During this uncertain time, I know many of us are either watching or at least being more conscious of our spending as we wait for the world to normalize (at least somewhat) again. While I’m doing that, as well, As a business owner, I feel that one thing I can do to support others is to share their businesses so that when you do choose to shop that you’ll have them in mind to support. A small business is someone’s dream and shopping small or even just liking and sharing their posts on social media to get the word out, can support that dream and keep it going!
Today, I wanted to share five of my favorite small businesses that you can shop and support now. I know that each purchase will not only support them, but will hopefully bring you a bit of joy and brightness!
Small Businesses to Shop Now
BURU // BURU has been a long-time favorite of mine (which you can probably tell by reading here frequently!). I think Morgan has done an amazing job of pivoting their business during these times by offering high-quality masks made from their beautiful fabrics (with proceeds going to support the LAUSD meal program for kids) and doing Instagram–exclusive launches and bundles. I’ve also found inspiration from BURU during this time to get dressed to go nowhere (it’s a mood-booster) and through Morgan’s IG Live chats with other small business owners.
Mirth // I’ve been a fan and shopper of Mirth since they launched a few years back. Katie and Erin create the best caftans and resort wear in absolutely gorgeous handcrafted textiles and custom block prints created in India. Each piece is truly so special and I honestly believe that I’ll have all of my Mirth pieces forever – I just got this amazing dress for summer. They are donating $5 of each order to the Women Weavers Wage Fund to support the talented artisans that help create these pieces.
The Avenue // The Avenue just turned one year old this past week and if you haven’t shopped there yet, you’re bound to find some cheery pieces for your home or closet. Lyndsey has been sharing lots of beautiful tabletop inspiration from her home with the hashtag #makemealsmemories and showing how everyday family dinners can be special.
Harper J Vintage Designs // Harper J Vintage Designs creates repurposed vintage jewelry from designer buttons and baubles. Jodi creates amazingly beautiful pieces that are really unique and fun. You’ll also want to follow on Instagram for sneak peeks of new pieces and items from the Private Collection that are only available there.
WKND WYFR // I found out about Weekend Wayfarer through Instagram and the bags that they had at the Four Seasons Orlando at Disney World. I connected with them (and found out that I actually interned at the same place and one of the owners!) and have really enjoyed following along with each new collection they create. They have really fun bags for everyday, dressing up or traveling and even for gifting! I always look forward to seeing the way their designs use color and prints – they’re so happy and cheery.
Thank you for joining me in shopping small and supporting these fabulous women-owned businesses!
