When it comes to skincare routines, I think that cleansers can easily be overlooked and underestimated. I definitely used to feel like I could pick up any random cleanser and it would be exactly what I needed. Through my experiences in learning about the value of good skincare, I learned that this isn’t exactly correct. There are lots of options out there, but you really need  to take into consideration your skin type and needs.  As well as what the current best skin cleansers are.

Today I’m rounding up the very best cleansers for several different occasions/skincare needs. You’ll see that there’s quite a bit of variety in texture from balms to gels and foams, as well as different ingredients to accomplish your skincare goals.

The Best Skin Cleansers

Best Night Time Cleanser: Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm

This one is worth raving about over and over again (as myself and many other bloggers have done). It is the very best for removing even the most stubborn eye makeup at night and it leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

I also love the Radiant Cleansing Balm for twice-a-day in the winter because it doesn’t strip your skin at all and leaves you with a bit of hydration and luminosity.

Best All-Around Cleanser: TULA Purifying Face Cleanser

This is TULA’s “cult classic” cleanser that is great for any skin type. I tend to use this one most often in the morning before prepping my skin for makeup. It is designed to deep clean your skin and remove impurities and excess oils, and it doesn’t make your skin feel dry.

This cleanser is also one of my favorites to travel with (since I usually just pick one for my travel bag) because it is such a great multi-tasking cleanser.

Best Oil Cleanser: Cosmedix

Cosmedix makes my favorite oil cleanser, their Purity Solution Nourishing  Deep Cleansing Oil. I primarily use an oil cleanser when I double cleanse. I’ll start with this one and follow up with whatever my skin is craving afterward to be clean and refreshed.

This one removes makeup really well, and it’s very soothing on your skin. It may sound strange, but another time I love this one is if I’m sick and have raw-feeling areas around my nose and cheeks, this one is what I reach for. It helps your skin retain moisture and keeps it hydrated and comfortable.

Best Exfoliating Cleanser: Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser

I’ve written about this Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser on multiple occasions and it is a great one! The exfoliation is gentle enough to do every day if you want (best in the mornings before makeup I think!)

I actually really love this one for summertime. I feel like it helps purify your skin from sweat and sunscreen better than any other and it makes your skin so smooth. This is a good one to pair with an oil cleanser because I don’t really count on it to remove makeup. I prefer to do that first and then use this one.

Best for Breakouts: TULA Keep It Clear Foam Acne Cleanser

I keep this TULA Foam Acne Clearing Cleanser in my shower and use it after every time I workout. It has a 2% salicylic acid (the highest you can get without a prescription) and helps keep your skin clear. I’ve also noticed that I have become more prone to hormonal breakouts, so I make sure I use this at least once a day during that time to keep my skin clear.

The foam formula is incredibly light and rinses off super clean. It also has probiotics and tea tree oil to help calm redness and soothe your skin, as well as ginger, so it’s not harsh and stripping like some can be.
