I’ve mentioned it before but Halloween is my favorite holiday and one of the big reasons why is that I absolutely love decorating my house for fall and for Halloween. Over the years I’ve gathered up quite a large collection of Halloween decor from various places, so this season I started with a major clean out of old decorations. I gave away things that I was no longer using, or that we moved with us into this house 5 years ago and haven’t used since – which felt amazing! But, of course, getting rid of things meant time to add new, so that’s what I did! I headed to Pinterest for some Halloween home decor ideas and then made myself a little plan of action.
Halloween Home Decor Ideas & Inspiration
My goal is to work on a different area of our house every year, so this year the new things went to the entryways. First up, I updated our foyer with this pretty black and white vase (which is now on sale!) and then headed off to find pieces to compliment it. Hobby Lobby overwhelms and terrifies me to my very soul, but they have amazing products at really great prices, so I went there for my vase filler. I’ll be heading back for more Christmas decor there for sure! With the exception of the candles (which I got at the grocery store!) everything else on the table is from Target’s Hyde and Eek Boutique. And I finished it off with my little Amazon bat collection, which I love! I spent about $200 on the entire set up and I plan to keep the vase and florals up through Thanksgiving, and will probably just change out the candles and keep those out, as well.
I always say that I’m glad to have an aunt who is a talented florist, because there’s no way I could come up with some of these things on my own. I wanted our mud room to be a little more fun and whimsical for Halloween, so she created the sparkly bat wreath (which lights up!). I feel like Pottery Barn has always inspired some of my Halloween home decor ideas, and that’s where the leaf garland/bat wreath combination came from. I really love how it all turned out! And the cute Mickey pillows were my Disney souvenir this year!
My goal is to always have our front porch be a little more formal, so my aunt did these mums and grass planters for me. We paired that with a harvest-themed wreath that I’ll be able to use for a few years now. I’ve also had those Halloween trees in our yard (which light up and the boys love!) FOREVER, and I’ll probably keep them till they burn out because I really like them. We’ll finalize the front porch next week when the boys carve pumpkins and then we’ll be all set to wrap up Halloween!
