Holy wow, I feel almost like a new person today! My kids went back to school this morning, I’m semi-caught up on work and I even have a full scheduled planned for the blog this month. Who am I?
We had a nice start to the day today with getting the boys ready and out the door for their first day of school. Jackson started second grade and was so excited to see his friends and get a real desk for the first time (how cute is that, by the way?!). Dylan started a new classroom too, 4 months earlier than his brother started the same class at his age. That makes me a little nervous but also very excited for him and what he’s going to learn to do in the coming months! Even though I was ready to kick them both out the door this morning, I’m also really excited to pick them up and hear about their days. I think I’m also really interested to hear what we have in store for the year as far as homework, activities and such.
What I’m Looking Forward to in September
August was a very crazy travel month for us, so I’m really looking forward to a month of just being at home and being productive with work and the other things we have planned. A few things high on my September list are:
Football Season // I’m honestly less excited about football and more excited about buying some new game day gear and making game day food. We are breaking out our smoker this weekend for some pulled pork and chicken! We may also need to get our outdoor movie theater out and watch some afternoon/evening games if the weather is nice.
My Fitness Challenge // If you saw on Instagram today, I shared that I’m doing a fitness and nutrition challenge with Madeline Moves called Tighter Together. I’m on day 2 of it today and, although I’m a little sore already, I’m really liking it so far. There’s a nutrition component to this with high carb days, low carb days and counting macros. I’ve never done this type of eating plan before, with weighing food and really planning, but so far it hasn’t been too tough. It’s actually enlightening to see how much you’re eating and how little changes can make a big difference.
Fall Style // Since I gave up on summer shopping a while ago, I’ve been saving browser windows on my phone with fall pieces (like this dress, this sweatshirt and these jeans). And I’ve really started to see a trend in what I’m liking this coming season. It’s a lot of rich colors, florals and easy, casual pieces that will be comfortable for all the running with the kids we have coming up. I’m also really finding myself liking a lot of skirts, which has not been something I’ve worn much of in recent months, but I’m loving them for fall.
Halloween Prep // Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I’m always looking ahead to getting ready for it! Along with our usual Halloween trip to Disney, I’m excited to buy some new decorations for our mudroom and figure out what the boys want for costumes this year. I also have some fun food ideas to play with for the holiday and will hopefully share them here, as well!
Thanks for sticking around for my first day of school rambling! Hopefully as the week goes on and we get into a new routine, I’ll have some more cohesive thoughts for you all. I hope you have a great start to your week!
