If your kids have started school already, I’m incredibly jealous of you! Our kids don’t start till after Labor Day, so we’re still on the countdown. Fortunately we’ve got a family trip planned between now and then to help the time go by just a little bit faster!
Because August has been kind of travel-heavy for us, I planned ahead and started my back-to-school shopping really early. As soon as I had school supply lists in hand, I purchased and filled both boys’ backpacks and have those completely ready to go!
Shopping for the boys school clothes was right at the top of my list of things to do, as well. I caught some good sales at GAP, Old Navy and Target and got things done in no time. My goal is to not spend a ton of money on school clothes because my boys tend to be pretty hard on clothes, so I don’t want to feel bad if a shirt gets covered in paint or Jackson wears a hole in yet another pair of jeans (still trying to figure out how he does this!). I also want to make sure they have enough school clothes that will take us pretty far into the first half of the school year. I know I’ll have to go in and pick up sweaters, coats and a few dress clothes and heavier layers as we get into October/November but for now, I think we’re off to a really good start.
I was pretty happy with some of my recent purchases for the boys and wanted to make sure I shared them with you all. Some of these are repeat purchases but others are new and have been big wins so far!
Polo Shirts // My boys don’t wear uniforms to school, but I ALWAYS buy the Cat & Jack uniform polos at Target in several colors. They are great quality shirts and the price point is amazing. I’ve found that they wash up up really well. I have not purchased the long-sleeved versions yet, but I do plan to do so this fall!
Skinny Pants // I struggle with finding pants that fit skinny little Jackson around the waist that aren’t too crazy long. What can I say, we make small kids around here! I have found that these Gap Slim Jeans with Fantastiflex are great for him, and I bought them in a few colors. They are a slimmer fit pant, and can be adjusted inside the waist. If you have a taller, but still slim child, I think they’d still work well. I’m also hoping the Fantastiflex (whatever that is exactly) will help with the durability of these pants.
Pajamas // The boys were due for a serious pajama restock and I found SO many cute sets at Amazon. We’re still at the point where it is better for the boys have to have as many of the same pajamas as possible so no one feels left out. I liked this stripe set and this dinosaur set a lot, but I would say they both run pretty skinny so maybe order a size up and allow for some dryer shrinking!
Graphic Tees // I’m not huge fan of big graphic tees with sayings on them (unless I randomly find one that perfectly describes one of my children!), but the boys do like shirts with “things on them” so I tried to oblige at least a little bit. Along with this cute little dino tee and this shoe tee, both boys got Gryffindor embroidered shirts to wear this fall. The little Harry Potter Collection from Boden is super cute, and if you’re at all a fan, I highly suggest you look at it!
