I hope you all are having a great start to your week! I have to admit it took me a little while to get back into the swing of things after the uncertainty of the last two weeks.
Thoughts on Jury Duty
I had jury duty scheduled to end on Friday and, naturally, I was called in to report on Thursday morning and was put right on a jury for a case on Friday.
Now, I complained about jury duty kind of a lot (just ask my husband), but honestly it felt kind of heavy deciding someone’s next step in life. I had jury duty last when I was about 23 and don’t remember at all feeling like “wow, this really impacts someone’s life” the way I did this time. I won’t give a full explanation of the case (just because it would take too much time and I’m sure you’re not THAT interested), but it was incredibly obvious based on the evidence and witnesses that the defendant was guilty of all but one charge. I’d guess the guy was like 25 or so, and I just kind of looked at him and thought of my own sons and how I’d want people to handle the case if it was them sitting there. So I felt bad, but the decision was correct and I wanted to just say “make better choices!”
The End of the School Year
A lot of our Texas friends’ kids are out of school already and I can hardly believe it! We still have till the end of next week, and I go back and forth between feeling like I’m not ready for it but also welcoming the change in pace and change of routine. It’s been a weird little rut lately where we’ve been doing a lot of the same thing and it’s kind of getting to us!
Our summer is pretty well packed with camps, vacations and, of course, our normal work schedules, but right now I think I’m mostly looking forward to no after school activities, being a little more flexible with our time in the evenings and FINALLY getting to spend some more time outside.
On the Fitness Front
Last month, my goal was to ride the Peloton for 30 days straight and, even though it was tough, I did it. At the end, however, I didn’t feel as accomplished and strong as I had in previous times in doing this. I was more tired and sore than anything, so for June I plan to mix it up. I talked about my summer fitness goals in this post a while back and I’m definitely going to keep up the little things that make a big difference.
I’m also going to start working on doing 3 days of riding per week, focusing on trying to do 45 minute rides for at least two of those. I’m also doing a Peloton 4 week core challenge right now. Today is day 3 of week 1 for me and I just like the idea of having a focus like this.
Finally, I am going to try P.volve. I have some equipment headed my way and two free streaming months, so I’m going to try and do that 3-4 days per week. It looks like a great option to have (along with Peloton Digital) while traveling, so I’m excited to give it a try! I’m not sure I can love a workout as much as I do with Peloton, but it will be a nice change of pace and good to mix things up a bit!
