4th of July Outfit Ideas

I can hardly believe that we’re packing to head out of town for the 4th of July – and it actually, finally feels like summer around here! I swear, it took an unnecessarily long time for summer to show up, so it makes me very happy that it’s finally warm and sunny. I’m also very much looking forward to a break next week and getting out of town. We are closing up shop as an agency for a few extra days too, so that we can all take a little vacation time!

Before we head out for the holiday (I’ll be posting here on the blog next Monday & Tuesday and then taking a break here too!), I wanted to do a quick round up of what I plan on wearing this weekend for the 4th of July festivities that we have planned.

Outfit 1: 4th of July Party

Our first 4th of July celebration actually takes place on the 3rd, when we have a patriotic little shindig at the yacht club we go to at the lake (which makes us sound fancier than we are, don’t let that fool you, my friends). There’s a dinner, music and fireworks, and the attire is “casual and festive.”

This striped dress from BURU is the perfect summer event dress, 4th of July or not. It also comes in white, which would be great, as well. It’s lightweight and flowy, and since I’m wearing heels with it, I didn’t have to get it shortened at all! I made it a bit more patriotic by adding these star earrings that I love (they come in blue, as well). I wore these stars to Disney too because they felt “magical” and I just truly love them.

I also picked up the cutest little patriotic buttondown shirts for the boys (that you can still get with in store pick up at Old Navy!), which I’ll have them wear with navy shorts for the party. They also end up getting tons of glittery, light-up swag from the party so they’ll be over-accessorized in a matter of minutes when we get there.

Outfit 2: 4th of July Parade

I am loving these little embroidered dresses lately! They’re just so easy to throw on and look dressed up and put together. I feel like these dresses were super popular in Texas but I don’t see them much up here in Michigan, so I’m taking it upon myself to make this a “thing” this summer. Even though it’s white, the dress is lightly lined so you can’t see through it at all, and it’s still very lightweight and comfy!

So, the brand that makes this dress is called J Marie Collections. They do the dresses in lots of colors and they also make several other styles, as well as some cute tops. And I also saw on Instagram that  they’re doing a long-sleeved version of a top that comes out for fall (I think in August), so you can bet that I’ll be stalking them for that one!

Outfit 3: Beach Carnival

Also on the 4th of July, we take the boys to a beach carnival at the lake. There are games, art activities and, of course, ice cream. Ice cream is really the bribery that makes the entire weekend work smoothly – for everyone.

I love these little eyelet shorts from Duffield Lane on this outfit. They’d make for a great pool cover-up, but also good with a long-sleeved striped shirt for a casual outfit. And keeping in with festive colors, this top from James Ascher is perfect! If I wasn’t doing a swimsuit underneath (since it is a beach carnival!) would probably wear a cute bralette underneath. This is another great top to keep around and wear with white jeans too!
