Although I loved summer this year, I have to say that fall is my favorite season. It is, by far, the best weather season here in Michigan for clothes, food and activities. I’m working on creating a little fall bucket list that I’m thinking about sharing here too. I always love when people do that, plus it’ll be a fun little thing for us to work on as a family at home!
Now that it is finally starting to feel like fall (or at least it has on a few days so far!), I’m going to be putting together a series of things that I’m doing for a bit of a “fall refresh.” I’ll be talking about everything from what I’m doing at our home to how I’m updating my closet (and transitioning summer pieces to fall) and what changes I’m making in my beauty routine.
To get things started, I’m going to be getting my skin scrubbed up and back in shape with my new PMD Personal Microderm Device. If you’re like me, you’ve probably seen these on blogs here and there over the last couple of years. I’ve never used it, so I was excited to have this opportunity to work with the company to try a Personal Microderm Device and to share the results with you all.
I’ve talked about this before, but in case you missed it, the biggest issue I have with my skin is some hyperpigmentation/discoloration on my forehead and cheeks. I can cover it with makeup, but I have a lot of no-makeup days when I’m home and I definitely notice it (and I’m a bit self-conscious about it, if we’re being honest). I’m hoping that, with weekly use of the PMD combined with my color correcting products and a good skincare routine, this will lessen.
I have had a few in-spa microdermabrasion treatments in the past, but it’s hard for me to make time for that these days. Having the PMD is going to allow me to do a great treatment at home.
So how does it work?
You use the device on a weekly basis, after cleansing your skin. The first time, you use what they call a “training disc” which is for ultra sensitive skin. From what I’ve read, it’s best to do this “level” when you’re still learning to use the device and it should give you an ultra light treatment. The set also comes with a couple of other discs, so you can judge if you need to customize your treatment differently for a higher level of exfoliation. I’m following this “How To” guide for the pattern to use – and I love that it is for a 3 minute treatment!
I also have the Recovery Collagen Masks to use after each treatment to help soothe, smooth and hydrate. These masks have two key ingredients, hyaluronic acid and collagen. Being that I work with two clients in my day job who are very beauty-focused, I hear a lot about the importance of these elements in your skincare. Both hyaluronic acid and collagen are the keys to rejuvenating and revitalizing your skin. I’m really excited to see how well these work after each PMD treatment, since the microdermabrasion will perfectly prepare my skin to take in as much of these as possible.
As I mentioned, my plan is to do treatments on a weekly basis for a month. I’ll share a live treatment at least once on my Instagram story, so stay tuned there, but then I will do an “after” blog post here in October.
