Over the coming weeks I’m going to be showing a few ways to wear some of my favorite fall trends and we’re starting that today with plaid.
I have slightly fond memories of wearing plaid shirts over t-shirts in middle school when I thought I could possibly be “so grunge.” And no, there will be no photographic evidence provided to show you that I was, in fact, SO far from actually being grunge. But unfortunately that’s where I started to think when I saw that plaid was a trend for this fall. Thankfully, plaid is classing it up these days and there are plenty of ways to style a great plaid shirt without going down that grungy road of 7th grade.
This look is my way of doing a casual plaid look with a little bit of edge (I’ll have a dressier look for you coming soon!). To get this one, I shopped local at Adorn Boutique in Frankenmuth (if you’re not local, you can shop their Instagram or call the store). They have lots of light and easy-to-wear plaid styles in store right now, so it’s a great time to start trying this trend.
I love that this plaid shirt is a bit longer in the back for some butt coverage (always, please!). I also like the black and white plaid because I think you could tuck it in to a leather pencil skirt or pair with leather leggings to accomplish a very similar look to this. The torn jeans are Blank Denim and are super stretchy and supportive, so they’re perfect for every day.
For my leather addition to this one, I loved trying this Blank Denim jacket. It’s a great jacket to wear in early fall because it isn’t too heavy, but it’s also got enough room to layer with sweaters a little bit later in the season.
So, are you up for plaid this fall? How are you wearing yours?
