Pumpkin for Breakfast

Call it basic or cliche if you want to, but you really can’t deny that this time of year is the perfect time for all things pumpkin (this story about the pumpkin obsession from the CBS morning show last week was actually kind of funny and oh so true – pumpkins everywhere!). I’ve been doing a little decorating with pumpkins, and have also started bringing some pumpkin recipes into our regular dinner rotation (with a little dessert here and there).

Breakfast is my favorite meal, especially on weekends, and I’ve been adding a little pumpkin spice to our Sunday mornings in the fall. This pumpkin chocolate crumb cake is one of my go-to recipes for weekend brunches. It is so decadent and it just tastes like fall. Plus, I love that there’s a little chocolate in it! The cake pairs so well with a cup of coffee and some fresh fall air, along with a nice cup of coffee. We’ve been loving the Starbucks Fall Blend, which is rich and a little spicy, making it the perfect pairing.

Oh and you know there’s a countdown every year for the arrival of the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, right? Well, if you’re like us and the nearest store (and the only one in your town) is a bit far from your house, you can even bring it home with their VIA Instant Pumpkin Spice Latte. My husband loves making one of these for his drive to work or we’ll mix up a couple to take to Jackson’s Saturday football practices to keep us warm while we watch him play (and by play I mean run around sort of aimlessly and stop immediately and scream “Airplane!” if he sees one fly over the field)

More Pumpkin Picks

Thank you to Starbucks for partnering on this post.

YUM! That crumb cake looks amazing! It’s on my to-do list for as soon as I can assemble the ingredients.

It’s actually pretty easy and so good! Some of the ingredients sound a little funky but it turns out great with regular sugar (instead of maple sugar) and regular or white whole wheat flour (instead of spelt flour). xo N
