Boutique Week: Gingy’s

I hope you all are enjoying Boutique Week so far! This is quite possibly my favorite series I’ve ever done here on the blog and I think it would be fun to do as a seasonal thing. Today I’m happy to share Gingy’s with you. Gingy’s was introduced to me by friend Patricia and their clothes are so colorful, so fun and I feel like they’re the perfect place to find a great party dress – like the one I’m wearing today!

Meet the Owners

Mom and daughter, Jean and Betsy Tremblay are the owners of Gingy’s and they have locations in Malvern, PA Newport, RI, Stone Harbor, NJ. They love fashion, friends, wine, the beach, and working with customers in the store and helping people find something that makes them feel their best. Jean is the mom of 4 kids who are now all grown: 3 boys and then a girl.

Now Jean and Betsy work together, designing their clothing line and running the 3 stores. The two of them have always been avid shoppers and have a lot of fun together. Working together, running 3 stores and designing is a dream come true.

What inspired you to start Gingy’s? And how did you move into having your own line after starting the boutiques?

In 2007, Jean opened the first Gingy’s in Malvern, PA. Jean had been involved in local cooperatives for more than 10 years. It seemed like the right time to open a store of her own with her children going off to college, getting jobs, and her youngest, Betsy, getting her driver’s license. Malvern, where she grew up, is a charming small town and seemed like the perfect place to start.

With more and more boutiques opening, Jean and Betsy were finding it hard to get exclusives on lines and be unique from the competition. Especially on the busy mainline and at the shore. After experimenting with a local skirt designer, they decided to work with a print designer and really start making styles they both loved and knew their customers would love. With much trial and error, their own line has become the best selling line in the stores and continues to evolve and get better every year.

How would you describe the Gingy’s style in 3 words?

Fun, Flirty and Timeless

What is your favorite thing in store for summer?

Jean is really excited for the “Flirty Top” – which we have experimented with in our cotton fabric, but this year we’re doing it for the first time in nylon and so far it’s been a hit. With just the right amount of a bell sleeve that adds a little style, but won’t get in your dinner!

Betsy is most excited for the skort dress to come back – an easy to wear style from the Gingy line that looks like a dress but has built in shorts underneath. Perfect for riding your bike to the store!

What would you say are the keys for bringing happiness, success and style into your life?

Loving what you do, following your instincts even when they are different from what people are saying, feeling confident to create your own style.

What I’m Wearing

There are so many great things about this maxi dress that it’s hard to know where to start. First of all, it is SO insanely comfortable and the fabric is really soft and lays so nicely. Adding to that comfort level is the fact that it has built in bra cups for support, and you can play with the straps for a few different looks.

It’s the perfect special occasion dress for summer and it comes in a few of their customized prints

Speaking of prints, one other really cool thing that Gingy’s does with their own designs is that each print has a purpose. For example, a portion of the sales of pieces in the the umbrella print I’m wearing will benefit CASA in Cape May County and the work they do as children’s advocates. Other prints benefit organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association (happy flower print) and BreastCancer.org (pink coquina print).

I’m so excited for you all to shop at Gingy’s and definitely do look at their private label designs, I know you’ll love them. Use the code HSS20 for 20% off your order through July 13!
