Confession: This was initially intended to be a Valentine’s Day outfit guide. But the fact that we had more than a week’s worth of snow days got me behind in content development for the blog. And then my site has been down almost all this week (thanks to Amanda at Alpine Lane Creative for fixing it!).
So we are changing things up and calling it February Outfit inspiration. I actually think this could be a consistent thing on a monthly basis, and I may actually like it better than the original plan!
Either way, I wanted to share 3 outfits that I’m loving this month. They are great pieces that are good for mixing and matching with other things in your closet and pieces you’ll wear into the next couple of months, as well.
Valentine’s Day Casual
Now, Valentine’s Day is a good excuse to buy a cute new outfit and this sweater is worth it, whether you’re wearing it for the holiday or not. It’s a really soft sweater and the embroidery is just cute. I’ve worn one of Banana Republic’s embroidered sweaters for an Everyday Outfit and I truly do just love the little detail.
These are also my new “mom jeans” and they’re pretty great. They are high waisted and have a bit of stretch to them. I’m going to get about an inch taken up on the hem just so they are a little more ankle-length for me, but otherwise, they’re perfect!
Go-To Black Dress
I got this Mirth dress back before the holidays to wear to dinner at Disney and I absolutely love it. It’s actually the same style as the one I wore for Easter (see that here), but the fabric is a different weight (heavier with a different texture) and the belt is a different style. I love that it’s a really flattering dress and that it’s easily layerable (not a real word) during the winter months. Even though Valentine’s Day is a good excuse to wear pink and red, and I’m doing a fair amount of that, I still think you can’t go wrong with an all-black look!
This leather jacket is from Zara years ago and it was such a steal. I did find a similar one that would be great for replicating this look. And I did add a little festive touch with maroon heels and the cutest heart earrings from BaubleBar that are good for “all the time wear.”
My friend Morgan wore this whole cozy casual look on her Instagram try on session and, although I already had the shorts and shoes, it made me buy the sweater and I’m really glad I did. I don’t wear a lot of red but this sweater is such a good on! The oversized fit is really nice and is cute with white jeans, or just regular skinny jeans and boots.
These shoes are going to get SO much wear around here. I wore them to Jackson’s elementary school family dance under a dress (see that here) and they are cute with cropped jeans, these shorts, seriously anything.
I hope this little bit of inspiration gets you adding more color or accessories to your outfits this month, or at least re-styling pieces you already have in your closet in ways you haven’t before!
