Healthy Holiday Tips from Detroit lululemon Ambassadors

I hope you all had a great weekend! Truth be told, I had planned to publish this post on Friday but we ended up with a little health scare with Dylan on Thursday. After a morning in the ER and a diagnosis of a bad case of croup, we were really happy to be home for a lazy weekend of catching up, taking care of everyone and getting back to feeling healthy.

If nothing else, it definitely made this post more timely and appropriate. There is so much going on at this time of year that it’s important to stop and take a minute for your health. For me, that’s making more time to squeeze in a workout, have one less sweet (or glass of wine!) and do my best to get a good night’s sleep every night.

I’m really excited to have connected with some of the lululemon ambassadors from Michigan on this post and have them all contribute what they’re doing to stay healthy and on track this holiday season!

If you were in charge of bringing something to your holiday dinner, what (at least slightly!)healthy option would you bring and why?
Oh easy, gluten free desert! To cater to those with an allergy but still bring something sweet to the table.

With all the holiday travel coming up, what do you do to keep up with healthy habits on the go?
I make sure to always carry a bottle of water on me to stay hydrated!

What is a tip you have for fitting in a workout during this crazy time of year?
(Try!) to get an AM workout class but if not I’ll walk to my destination whenever possible.

If you were in charge of bringing something to your holiday dinner, what (at least slightly!) healthy option would you bring and why?

Since I love my sweets and everyone knows it! I would bring baked pears. They are pears cut in half, filled with cranberries, pecans, and then drizzled with honey and cinnamon. Then baked for 10 minutes!

With all the holiday travel coming up, what do you do to keep up with healthy habits on the go?

Honestly life is all about balance and during the holidays that good food always seems to be around. Being slightly less “on it” to enjoy all the treats my family and friends love to make during these times are worth. I’m still conscience about my choices when I’m on the go and still try to meal prep however.

What is a tip you have for fitting in a workout during this crazy time of year?

I love getting into challenges with friends or even join the 6-week programs that we have going on during these times of the year at my TRV|FIT gyms. It is amazing accountability and the competitiveness makes it more fun. The challenge I am currently in with my CEO Tyler Koronich and other TRV|FIT owners is all-out giving back to the community.

If you were in charge of bringing something to your holiday dinner, what (at least slightly!) healthy option would you bring and why?

I’d bring spinach pie! It is my guilty pleasure all while getting the enrich iron and nutrients from the spinach.

With all the holiday travel coming up, what do you do to keep up with healthy habits on the go?

During the holiday season, I make a conscious effort to stay grounded through daily journaling and checking in with loved ones while I’m on the go. It’s so easy to get caught up in the bustle, these things keep me grounded and keep things in perspective.

What is a tip you have for fitting in a workout during this crazy time of year?

I get up early, before the festivities begin and either take a light jog or do some yoga with or without a mat. It’s all about getting the mind and body moving before the real festivities begin.
