The Perfect Plaid Coat

Winter. Is. Here. We took these photos a couple of weeks ago and now all of these leaves are covered in about 6 inches of snow. The boys were probably the most excited about it and I spent the a good part of Monday and Tuesday pulling up all of our winter stuff from storage in the basement and getting rain coats and light layers put away.

Since we’ve moved back to Michigan, every year I get a new coat (or this year, it’s three. You’ll see them all!). I figure it’s worth starting a collection of sorts because we’ve got such a long cold weather season. Plus, I think a coat should be an item that you keep for a long time and never give away or throw away unless it no longer fits or has been completely worn out (don’t give away a completely worn out coat, that helps no one).

I’ve never had a full-length coat like this so when I saw the style in the Halogen x Atlantic Pacific collection, it was the piece that made me the most excited. I thought it would be a really nice, colorful statement coat that would look great over a sweater and jeans or dressed up. Truth be told, I’ve also worn it over yoga pants and sneakers because it dressed it up a bit and I’m pretty sure no one even noticed how dressed down I was underneath this beautiful coat. Overall, it’s a great buy with a flattering, slimming shape and it is just SO pretty!

This Atlantic-Pacific coat is actually now on sale at Nordstrom for $149 (call it under $150 if that makes it sound better!) and I actually ordered a few pieces from this collection over the weekend. I got this skirt, these pants, this sweater and this one too – and I can’t wait to share how I’m going to mix and match everything!
