Favorite Drugstore Makeup Buys

A couple of months ago I got on a big kick of watching YouTube beauty tutorials before bed (or during football games that Clint was watching when I had no interest!). When I was doing that, I saw a lot of people sharing drugstore beauty buys that were so affordable and looked so good that I started to do a little of my own research to find some to try.

I’m typically a department store beauty girl, I like shopping at Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom where I have someone direct me to products when I’m looking for something specific. But I took a trip to Rite Aid, Walgreens and our grocery store and found a few things that I really liked. You can also get almost of this stuff at Ulta or on Amazon too – and seriously, what did we ever do without Amazon Prime?

Whether you’re a department store or drugstore makeup shopper, I think it’s always good to know about products at both places because you never know when you’ll need something or just want to try something new.

For no particular reason, I found myself purchasing mostly L’Oreal and Almay. I found good reviews on these products and, after using them, I’d agree that they’re great buys. I was really looking for everyday items that would make for a quick and easy 5 minute makeup look to put together when I was heading out to run errands or even just to feel a bit more put together when I’m working at home in yoga pants.

L’Oreal Infallible Eye Liners // These are great everyday eye liners. They’re waterproof and really stay in place well. I use the brown and smudge it a bit on my upper lash line for a quick smoky look. And the nude color is my favorite for my lower waterline to brighten up my eyes and make me look more awake. I think it really works and I use it almost every single day.

Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lip Color (in Pink Light) // I really like this product formula, it goes on really smooth and feels moisturizing when you wear it. It’s also buildable so just a quick swipe is light and easy to throw on but you can do a couple of coats of it for a more saturated color. I was really wanting just a pretty, light pink color to go with a “no makeup” look and this one is perfect for exactly that.

Almay Smart Shade Blush (in pink) // This blush is a really soft, nice flush of pink that I think would be flattering on many skin tones. It’s just enough color but isn’t overwhelming, so again, a great, easy-to-use, everyday product.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Powder // What I like about this one is that it has a super subtle highlighter in it so it helps give you a bit of a glow, but again, isn’t overwhelming. I use it like I would a bronzer to just warm up my complexion. I use the color Creme Cafe (which looks darker online than it does in person), but would also probably pick up the Nude Beige if I was going to use it more as an all-over powder.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Boost & Set Brow Mascara // I love the applicator for this! It’s a tiny little mascara wand at an angle and it makes brows SO easy. The product itself is a nice amount of color and lasts all day. I use the Light Brunette but also have and use the Dark Brunette, just depending on how much brow power I want on any given day.

I’d love to hear from you all on your drugstore favorites! Leave me a comment and let me know what I should try next.
