Happy Friday! I’m not sure I’ve been this excited for a weekend for a LONG time because it is the “official” last weekend of summer. I’m not necessarily excited to see the end of summer weather, rose or open toed shoes, but if you haven’t heard me mention it (like a million times this week), I’m ready for our fall schedule and for the kids to be back in school!
Jackson had his golf lesson yesterday with some friends and as I sat with the moms of our group, who are friends of mine, I was glad not to be alone in my “go back to school” feelings. I think we’re all excited to see what’s ahead for our kids but also feel a little more productive in our days.
This weekend will also be a fun one for summer to end on. We’re going to a baseball game, planning a cookout at home and maybe spending a little time at the pool (if it doesn’t rain!). I also have become newly obsessed with Smart in the Kitchen‘s meal plans, so I’m going to do some meal prep using her most recent plan for our first week of school.
If it does rain, I’m actually really excited to clean out my closet. I’ve done some clearing out and listed some of the things on my “Shop My Closet” Instagram account, but there’s so much more left to do. I’m trying to move toward a bit of a “less is more” model with my closet and maybe do more strategic shopping with more mixing and matching of things I have and then filling in the gaps as I need to.
Over the next few weeks here on the blog and on Instagram, I’m going to try and share how I’m restyling summer pieces for fall. I know I’ve got some great dresses that will transition into a new season with layering and the one I’m wearing today is definitely one of them. This is the first Apiece Apart dress I’ve owned and I really love it. For summer purposes, you can definitely wear it without the tank (the best tank you’ll ever buy) underneath but I felt like I needed a little more coverage. This one I’ll wear into fall with my favorite striped tee underneath. I also really want these Apiece Apart jeans – I think I’d live in them this fall.
