My Spring Style Philosophy

I told Clint a few weeks ago that as I’ve been shopping for Spring and Summer this year that it’s the first time in a while that I really have felt like myself and that the clothes I’m choosing really  feel like ME again. It may be weird to say that, especially as a “style blogger,” because I spend so much time sharing my style here on the blog and social channels. But I think I’ve really started to feel comfortable in my own skin again for a couple of reasons.

First of all, I finally feel healthy and confident in my own body again. I had a hard time getting back in shape and feeling good after I had Dylan. I’ve mentioned that I didn’t really get back into a good routine until we got our Peloton and I love it so much that I truly enjoy working out again. I finally lost the baby weight that I wanted to (although I could stand to lose a bit more if I would fix up my eating habits a bit!) and got back into a size in which I felt comfortable.

And then I got out of my own way. Being in this blog world, I’ll find myself playing a comparison game and before too long I’m dressing like someone else and not myself. I actually tried to take a bit of a break from reading too many other sites and focused on myself for a while. That made me feel good and more confident and focused in what I was doing. And of course hearing from you all in the reader survey last month was super helpful in reassuring that you actually like seeing my style! I know sometimes my style can be a little funky, not necessarily practical for everyone but I hope you can find inspiration from some of it in pieces you might already have in your closet, be interested in shopping or find pieces that you’ll buy and use them to get out of your fashion comfort zone!

Things I’m Loving Lately

Colors: Blue, Yellow, Black, White, Gray, Pink

Shapes: Wide Leg Pants, High-Low Tops, Higher Necklines

Jewelry: Small gold pieces for everyday, subtle statements and statement staples

This Look

This exact outfit was in an Anthropologie E-mail a month or so ago and I pretty much immediately purchased it. I don’t usually do that but I felt like when I saw it that it really felt like one that I would wear often, contained pieces I could mix and match (stay tuned for that!) and I just loved it.

For some quick highlights, these wide leg pants (on sale now!) are crazy comfortable and will actually be great for traveling. The tank is awesome. It comes in several colors and will be great for layering under sweaters, blazers, you name it – or just wear it on its own with jeans! This sweater was the splurge piece of the look, but I think it’ll be a great layer again for traveling but will also be great going back into fall.

Oh and by the way, Happy Royal Wedding weekend!
