New Beauty Favorites from Violet Grey

I had every intention of doing this post as a video but I managed to catch some awful cold/bug thing from the boys and me on video is NOT the best idea at the moment. I’m trying to get some rest, drink tons of water (and the occasional Starbucks Medicine Ball – which is NOT good) and apply/diffuse any of the essential oils recommended to me, because now is not a good time for me to be sick!

I do, however, plan to share all of these with you on an Instagram story later in the week and I’ll refer back to this post so that you can get direct links to anything you like or want to know more about.

Let’s start things off with a little introduction. Violet Grey is a sort of new-to-me beauty destination and it has been one of my go-to’s when it comes to beauty products and also as a beauty resource.I love that they curate and select a really amazing selection of products for their store, but they also do a really great job of providing product information. Their blog, The Violet Files, has really good information about products, as well as tutorials, inspiration. And I’ve gone down a rabbit hole or two and gotten stuck reading on there for quite a while a few times. That being said, I also have a cart full of “wish list” items that I want to order next!

The team at Violet Grey was kind enough to send along some new products for me to try and share with you all, so I’m excited to give you some reviews on these today. Everything I have to share is really great for everyday beauty and are all items that you could integrate into your routine.

Chantecaille Liquid Lumiere // Let me start by saying that this is a MIRACLE product that I cannot recommend enough! Okay good, we got that out of the way.

Ever since I started using this, I have gotten compliments on how great my skin looks. I apply it to the apples of my cheeks and use a damp beauty blender to blend it in and then I put a highlighter above it and blend that, as well. It has just the right dewy finish to make you look fresh, awake and you will absolutely get hooked on this product.

The bad news is that it is sold out for the moment so get on the list to get notified when it comes back because you are going to want this for spring/summer/ALL. THE. TIME.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eye Shadow // I have heard people sing the praises of Charlotte Tilbury in the past but my only experience prior to this product wasn’t the best. I tried one of her mascara and found that it was flaky for me if I didn’t use a primer (which I’m often lazy and don’t), so it just sits in my drawer. But this cream eye shadow (mine is Bette) has me interested in disregarding that experience and trying some other CT products.

What do I love about the shadow? It is SO easy to apply, SO pretty and makes a great base shadow for creating everything from an easy everyday look to a smoky eye. It’s also really soft and has a nice little shimmer to it, which is lovely. I just use my finger to apply on my lids, and then I’ll let it “dry” for a minute and then apply more if I want it to be a little stronger. I’ve also accented with a highlighter under my brow bone and it makes it stand out even more. I would honestly collect all of these!

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick // Speaking of collecting all of something, I’d do that with these caviar sticks too! I know these are super popular but I had never tried them until receiving this one. It works well on its own for eye shadow, and also works great with that CT Eyes to Mesmerise Shadow. They also have a really smooth application and they last! I have this in Amethyst and it has a light shimmer which coordinates beautifully with the Bette shade from CT to amp up your look!

I saw that they also now have Matte Caviar Sticks on the site and I want to order like 3 of those too (my favorites are: Au Natural, Caramel and Cobblestone) – talk about making morning beauty routines easier! I’ll take it!

Tom Ford Nail Color // In my New Year’s beauty resolution post, I shared with you that I’m going to be better about painting my nails and that I have a big collection of nail polish. So let me tell you a little story about that. For a long time, I was hooked on Chanel nail polish. Meaning every single time they’d come out with a new season of colors (especially if anything was “limited edition”) I’d buy at least two. Sadly, I don’t paint my nails so some of them have never even been opened. But they’re pretty.

Let me share with you now my newest nail polish addiction in this Tom Ford Nail Lacquer. I have it in Toasted Sugar and it’s just the perfect creamy, pinky neutral that would go with just about every skin tone and be beautiful. Just like everything else in today’s post, it has a super smooth application and it stays really well! I think this is going to be my go-to for a while, or at least until I purchase it in Bitter Bitch, Indian Pink and Mink Brule.

ILIA Lipstick // I’m working on natural additions to my beauty routine, and this is a great one! This ILIA lip color is made with organic ingredients and the pigment is amazing. It’s another crazy smooth product (can you tell that’s really important to me?) that lasts. I know I keep saying the same thing but long-lasting products with a smooth application are really important for me. If it doesn’t last and I don’t like how it feels, then it’s not making the cut around here!

When I put on my Femme Fatale, my first thought was that this is the kind of lipstick that you throw on when you’re leaving the house in a rush and just throwing on sunglasses, and people will think you’re super put together and styled. It’s the latest addition to the Truffle pouch that makes regular transitions between my diaper bag and work bag.

So that’s it for today, please let me know if you have questions! And stay tuned to my Instagram stories where I’ll actually show you everything on and talk about it,
