My Favorite Things to do with Jackson

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Mott’s®.

As summer is finally starting, it’s made me notice again how big the boys are getting. They’re growing out of clothes and shoes, our conversations have changed a bit and we’re preparing for a whole new schedule when Jackson starts kindergarten this fall. He has seriously gotten so big! He talks like a little grown up and sometimes we just can’t believe that he’s such a mini man now.

As he’s gotten so big, our time together has gotten even more fun. He loves to be a part of whatever we’re doing and we love it too. Today I wanted to share a few of my favorite things to do with 5-year-old Jackson and how we’re watching him grow:

Reading

We feel pretty lucky that Jackson loves to read as much as he does. Clint and I were both early readers and we both really enjoy it. So, taking time to read books with Jackson has been a priority for us since he was a very little baby. He started reading on his own when he was 4 and we’re so impressed by how well he does and how much he challenges himself by picking up new words along the way.

One of my favorite things to do is our bedtime reading routine. Clint and I take turns reading during the week so that we both get a chance to sit with Jackson, read a book and take some time to talk with him before bed. It’s always nice to have that quiet little moment with him and we both really enjoy it.

Date Days

Before Dylan arrived, Jackson and I used to spend every Friday together as a date day. We would go to the museum, the zoo or to swim lessons and lunch, just the two of us. Now that little brother is around, we try to make time solo time with both boys for each of us.

When I just have Jackson, he likes to do trips to the park, lunch at Panera or even a trip to the Walmart. I think Walmart trips may be his favorite because he always gets to pick out a few things. Plus there’s the social element of it. Jackson will talk to ANYONE and loves to do it. We always say it’s as if he’s running for office because he waves, answers questions and is just so outgoing and friendly. I think maybe he gets that from his dad.

Table Time

It’s really important to us to take time as a family to have breakfast or dinner at the table. We turn off the TV, ditch the digital devices and spend time talking about our days.

We also have tried to teach Jackson about making healthy choices with food and he loves picking out his snacks and telling us why he chose them (to be healthy). Mott’s Applesauce and Apple Juice are two of his favorites and are things we always have around the house.

Sometimes I can hardly believe that Jackson is already 5 years old. I’ll always ask him “When did you get so big?” and he always replies with “Mommy. It’s because I’ve had a lot of birthdays.” Well, now we’re keeping track of how big he is with this adorable growth chart that we got just for purchasing the Mott’s products that we always do.

Here’s How You Get Your Own Growth Chart:

  • Buy $10 worth of Mott’s juice or sauce at Walmart
  • Register for the offer on com/Walmart
  • Upload receipts on www.Motts.com/Walmart now thru 9/15/2017

The growth chart will be mailed to your home once receipts have been verified.

We keep our growth chart in our playroom so that we can keep checking how big he’s getting (between birthdays, of course) and it’s fun for him to see where he is on the chart – although I think he wishes we could mark off new spots more often!
