I haven’t done a fitness update post in quite a while, so I thought I’d start this new month with an update on what I’ve been doing for my workouts and just how all of that has been going. First of all, I’m working on getting back into a routine after a crazy month of birthdays, travel and everyone being sick in February.
Around Thanksgiving-ish, I sort of felt like I had hit a plateau. I wasn’t losing more weight, I wasn’t really motivated and I also wasn’t seeing a lot of changes. On top of all of that, I have a Morton’s Neuroma (which is a painful thickening of the tissue around a nerve) in my right foot that was really bothering me.
I decided to change things up and try to really boost my cardio more than anything else. I started going to the gym and doing 30-45 minutes on the elliptical (which hurts my foot but I did it anyway). Then I found some spinning classes at Sarah Fechter Fitness that fit into my schedule and gave those a try. I was quickly reminded how much I LOVE spinning! I used to do DEFINE Revolution classes a couple of times a week when we lived in Houston and it was my favorite workout. The class I take at SFF is a spin/strength class so it’s a 30 minute spin and a 30 minute weight section, which gives me a really well-rounded workout and it goes by so fast.
I also started doing some more strength training classes (combined with some awesome Turbo Kick cardio) and really noticed a significant difference in my strength, how I felt and how I looked. The changes actually came pretty quickly and that got me really excited. I also will do a Pure Barre class or workshop, or yoga as it fits in with my schedule (which has been weird and crazy lately), because I love the balance and variety of classes.
Once this got going, the changes actually came pretty quickly and that got me really excited. The biggest thing I noticed was that when we went skiing, I felt really strong. I felt like I had the strength to control my skiing a lot better than I had in seasons past and that felt really good. Of course, then we came home, everyone got sick and the schedule got thrown off.
Since this is a new month and everyone is now well, I’m considering this another fresh start for my workout routine. I also am excited to tell you that I’m going to be partnering with Sarah Fechter Fitness this Spring to share my experience with their LifeUpgrade Fitness Camps. I have to admit, I’m a little intimidated to do a camp but I think the challenge is going to be great and I look forward to documenting and sharing the results with you.
Camp sign-ups are next week (I’ve included all of the info below if you’re local and want to do this with me!) and the actual camp starts in May. I plan on sharing some (eek!) before photos with you and some updates along with way with the type of workouts we’re doing, how I’m feeling and, finally, some after photos. I also will share some information and tips from Sarah, as well as information from their dietician, Rachel. I think this is going to be a really fun journey and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you!
