This Week I… Vol. 3

Happy weekend everyone! I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for a while because we are celebrating baby Dylan’s first birthday. He turned one on Friday and his party is today (Saturday). It has been so much fun (and a lot of work) to plan his first fiesta themed party but I’m hoping it all goes well and I’ll be sharing the whole party on the blog next week.

I can’t believe that he is actually a year old already. I felt that my pregnancy lasted forever and it seemed as if we waited so long for him to arrive, but this past year with him has gone by in a blink. The fun is really just beginning and I can’t wait to continue to watch him grow, change and keep making us smile and laugh as much as we do every single day. We love our little rainbow baby, he’s just the ray of sunshine we needed to complete our family and I just could not love my sweet boys more.

With that, here’s a quick round up of the things that have been on my radar and happening around here this past week:

I’ve been on the go and have been back in a great workout routine, so it was an athleisure kind of week for me, yet again. I pretty much lived in my lululemon leggings and vest after vest. This Patagonia vest (seen in this post) is proving to be a very worthwhile purchase and I wear it all the time. I even find myself wearing it at home when I’m working in my office (aka one of the coldest rooms in our house).

I did “glam it up” a little bit this week when it came to beauty routine. I’ve been using this Pretty in PRAI Body Lotion and the coordinating fragrance lately and have been loving it. The scent is so light and feminine, perfect for everyday wear. And the lotion is luxurious and makes your skin incredibly soft. If this sounds familiar, you may have seen it in my Valentine’s Gift Guide for Her earlier in the week. It’s also a pretty good gift idea if you’re gifting to yourself, which I’m highly in favor of.

So here’s a little more information than you’d probably care to know. I’ve been having a bit of a bra issue in that nothing seems to fit right lately. I’ve been trying to find something to wear for “everyday” that isn’t a sports bra but also doesn’t have underwire. My friend Merritt recommended these bras in a recent post and so I ordered them to try. I’ve never purchased anything from Yummie by Heather Thomson, but these are SO comfortable and I’m a huge fan, so I may need a few more!

On a completely different note, I stocked up on key lime margarita mix for the First Fiesta this weekend. I love picking this up at Williams-Sonoma because it makes mixing so much easier, especially when you’re serving a large group.

Since I missed doing this post last week due to everyone being sick, I didn’t get to tell you about the healthy recipes we’ve been making and actually liking lately. I saw this recipe for “healthy cookies” on Gal Meets Glam a few weeks ago and we actually found that we really like them. They’re not sweet but if you’re trying to cut sugar, they’ll give you a pretty good fix.

We also enjoyed this Detox Crockpot Lentil Soup (drizzled with vinegar and served with crusty wheat bread), these Korean Beef Bowls, and these Turkey Meatballs with Spaghetti Squash

We’re cooking up all Tex Mex for the fiesta and then will have lots of Super Bowl weekend leftovers. More to come on all of this later!

I also just got Ina Garten’s new cookbook and can’t wait to make more from it!

This is going to sound very #FirstWorldProblems, but the woman who cleans our house is off for about 6 weeks because she had surgery so I’ve had to re-learn a little bit about how to deep clean our house. We had a cleaning service in our house in Houston too (because we were both working and it saved us a ton of time), so I haven’t been in charge of this one for a while. Obviously I went to Pinterest to see if I could find some tips on setting a reasonable schedule for cleaning the house. I found this list that made it sound completely manageable and I started putting it into practice this week. I also continue to be obsessed with these Lemi Shine products that I found out about last year – they’re kind of the best.

Have a great weekend!
