With so many people prepping for New Year’s resolutions (including myself) fitness-related gifts are some of my favorite to give and receive. My mom actually used to do themed stocking gifts and one of my favorites that she ever did was a health & fitness theme. We got things like socks, water bottles, a Fitbit, workout clothes, and just lots of little things you wouldn’t think to buy yourself. It’s a fun idea and definitely one worth replicating (or repeating, hint: mom)!
I also really like these kind of gifts because you can find them at a wide range of prices, styles and that means you really can find something for everyone on your list.
I’ve brought in a special guest for this post (and hopefully one more, by request, if I can convince him to do it), and that is my husband Clint. He’s chiming in for all the guys picks below and letting you know his favorite fitness gift ideas. So please, sense his sarcasm and read on…
For the Ladies
New Balance for J.Crew Crop Top // New Balance for J.Crew Leggings // DYI High Shine Tights (comes in several colors!) // S’well x Gray Malin Water Bottle // Kate Spade Ear Buds & Portable Charger Set // Manduka Yoga Mat // Vera Bradley Sport Bag // Fitbit Charge 2 // Studio Skin Shoe/Socks // ALALA Jacket
- Cold-weather activity accessories also make great stocking stuffers and I love this lululemon headband and these gloves.
- Since we all know that working out is only half of the battle, maybe a new cookbook is enough inspiration to start a healthy routine too! This one is one of the prettiest I’ve seen (and I hear the recipes are delicious) and I’ve also heard great things about Gwyneth Paltrow’s “It’s All Easy.” Oh and I have this new Ina Garten book and it’s a good one too!
- This Aveda essential oils gift set is just the thing to help you feel a little more balanced!
For the Guys
Michigan is cold. Really cold. You know what isn’t fun to do in the cold? Basically anything that isn’t skiing. Pants and long sleeves are a must for cold weather workouts as is a warm pullover for windy days and those early morning trips to the gym.
Speaking of early morning trips to the gym, the last thing I’m interested in doing during a 5:00 am workout is talk to people. Headphones…BUY GOOD HEADPHONES. It’s not that I’m anti-social, but it’s difficult to maintain focus when somebody wants to awkwardly comment on your form while you’re trying to rock out to Carly Rae Jepsen (she’s awesome, just deal with it). I would also highly recommend wireless headphones so you’re never that ass clown who gets the cord of your wired headphones caught on the drinking fountain. It happened to this guy I know one time.
And since I haven’t mentioned it yet, check out that bag! You know what you can put in a bag? Stuff. Lots of stuff. Like everything I mentioned above! It also has plenty of room for your phone if you’re one of those people that just goes to the gym to play on Facebook. Seriously, just leave it in the bag. It’ll be safe in the bag.
