Print Mixing Basics

Hello again, Monday! This was the first weekend in a while that we didn’t have anything planned. We were just able to do our at home tailgate with some friends on Saturday. And on Sunday, we played outside with the boys and caught up on some things around the house to prepare for a good week this week.

I truly feel like I’m starting to settle into a good routine with the boys at school and working a little bit more. Remember how I said that I was going to start working out last week? Well that only happened twice, so I’m trying to do better this week. I’m thinking about starting the BBG program. Have any of you all tried it? If so, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought!

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about mixing prints. I’m not very brave when it comes to this, but I love how it looks when I see it on other bloggers and on Pinterest, so I’m trying to experiment with prints in my everyday looks and as I shop for fall clothes.

The combination of stripes and plaid is what I would call print mixing basics, so even if you’re not super adventurous with your prints, you can definitely put this one together and pull it off flawlessly! I actually especially like this look in the fall when you can wear a great, deep colored plaid shirt either tied around your waist, or over a striped tee.

This whole look is from Old Navy and I wore it on my Instagram as part of the #50Styles50States campaign (which you can learn more about here). I’ve already gotten a lot of wear out of both of these shirts separately, as well. The striped tee is a bit long, which I like. So you could even tuck in the front a bit for a cute, slouchy look – I also have it in black! The plaid button-down is one of the best fitting shirts that I’ve picked up like this in recent years. I’m wearing a size small and it’s a relaxed fit but still as some shape to it. It comes in a few different colors and I may end up getting a couple more as everyday go-tos or to wear under sweaters in the winter.
