If you’ve been following me on my social channels lately, you’ve heard me mention that I’ve been doing a 21 Day Sugar Detox. I’ll be talking more specifically about that in a separate post, but one thing I’ve noticed already (1.5 weeks in) is that it has really made me focus more on my diet.
Along with cutting down on my sugar and processed foods intake, I’ve been adding things to my diet that will not only help me in my post-baby weight loss but just promote overall health and wellness. One of those things I’ve recently added is collagen, by integrating Vital Proteins Marine Collagen and Collagen Beauty Greens into my diet. Both are sort of like protein powders that you can mix into things like smoothies, your oatmeal in the morning or even guacamole or other snacks.
Most often, I like to use the Collagen Beauty Greens in a green smoothie. This one does add a little bit of the coconut vanilla flavor, so I’m a little pickier on how I use it. My favorite combination lately is:
- 1 cup of almond milk
- A large handful of spinach (about 1 cup)
- 1/2 cup of berries (either fresh or frozen – if using fresh, I also like to add some ice to make it a little colder and thicker)
- 2-3 mint leaves
- A drizzle of honey or agave
- 1 scoop of Collagen Beauty Greens
Combine it all in the blender and blend until smooth.
Now, the Marine Collagen has no flavor, so it is a bit more versatile and works really well mixed into nearly anything! I tend to take my collagen first thing in the morning (basically so I don’t forget!), so I like to put this one in oatmeal – so easy!
I’ve been using both for almost a couple of months now and I’ve really noticed some great changes in the strength and health of my skin and nails. I also do feel like it is helping out with keeping my hair strong and healthy, especially during this period of postpartum hair loss. It’s a super easy thing to add to your diet that really makes a big difference, and quickly!
