I’ve sort of become a weather stalker lately. It’s a problem, but cabin fever is a real thing, my friends.
It’s really because I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of any sort of warm weather and it just hasn’t happened yet. I’m looking forward t the days where Dylan and I can go for good morning walks and then go for walks/bike ride with Clint and Jackson in the evenings after dinner. And, even though I won’t be caught dead in a bathing suit for a while, I’m looking forward to the pool opening so I can take the boys to play.
I’m also working on getting my closet and beauty drawer summer-ready and, as usual, I made a little trip over to the beauty department at Neiman Marcus to pick up a few things and get a little advice!
The summer products at Tom Ford are AMAZING! This is one of those times where I want every single thing in the collection, but I’m slowly working on that. At Neiman Marcus, I met with Tina (who is so much fun to work with) and she gave me a gorgeous, glowy summer look. We started talking about The Afternooner Soleil Contouring Compact. You use it with this brush and it creates a beautiful, soft contoured look. I’m a newbie to contouring, but even I could do this one. You apply the product very lightly with the tan below your cheekbones and on the sides of your forehead, pink on the apples of your cheek and up and then the highlight color above that and down your nose.
The Afternooner is enough to make you go “wow” but there’s more. You can take the Cream Cheek Color (in Pieno Sole), use the same brush and blend the product lightly all around your face. It’s seriously like applying that really good Snapchat filter to your face. It’s a finished, polished look that’s absolutely beautiful.
One other product that I felt had a ton of impact was the Radiant Moisture Souffle. It hydrates and illuminates and creates a natural glow. You could use it on top of your everyday moisturizer (or foundation) for a simple dewy look, but I loved adding a little bit under my eyes over my concealer. My eyes are a little tired lately and the skin around them gets dry very easily. This really brightened up my eye area and I felt that it made me look more fresh and awake!

As you know, if you read here often, I’m a major Le Metier de Beaute skincare devotee. Their products work really well for me and I use the entire regimen. I wanted to get a little more into the brand’s color collection for summer, so I visited Kim (who I can always count on for great color advice!) at Neiman Marcus for a little lesson on matte lips.
We used the latest LMdB lipstick formula, the Moisture Matte Lipstick, to create the perfect matte lip. I ended up with the lipstick in Amelie and lip liner in Echo. Kim showed me to line and fill in my lips a little bit and then layer the lipstick over. I was actually really surprised at how much the “filled in” area of the liner would change the color of the lipstick. It’s quite fun to play with liners and lip colors to come up with the perfect combination.
I really like the Moisture Matte Lipstick for every day. It’s super long lasting and moisturizes without being sticky or heavy, which is especially why I like it for summer!
