The weather around here is starting to look more like Spring and I’m happy to be at a point with Dylan where we are finally able to leave the house a little bit and be more social. Those first couple of months where you’re just holed up at home avoiding crowds and all things with germs are tough and the cabin fever is a real thing!
Maybe it’s because I’m on baby #2 or maybe I’m just more game for taking chances, but I’m not taking nearly the amount of “back up” items that I used to carry for Jackson. My goal is to have what we need without really overdoing it. I’ve already changed up the contents of my diaper bag a few times in the past (almost) 11 weeks and I’m always looking for ways to streamline what I’m carrying around with me so that I don’t throw out my back carrying a giant, heavy bag and a giant, heavy carseat everywhere I go.
I never go anywhere without at least one Truffle pouch (usually two). They help keep my diaper bag organized and clean. I like to keep diaper changing essentials in one and then everything else (hand wipes, pacifier wipes, sunscreen wipes, bandaids, etc.) in another so that I can just grab the changing pouch (or hand it off to Clint!) for diaper changes on the go.
I also keep a cute little pouch for myself to keep some makeup, an extra hair tie and any other things I want to keep separate from the baby items. I also always carry a scarf for cold restaurants or in the car, or in case I need to cover up a little spit up spot on my shirt.
This Hobo Sheila bag is new and it works out really nicely as a diaper bag! First of all, it’s super spacious inside but isn’t SO huge that you lose things. It’s great to carry either with the long strap, hoop handle on your arm or as a crossbody for when you need to be hands free (and with a baby, that seems to be all the time!). I also really like that it’s not actually a diaper bag, so I can just use it as a tote for myself on the glorious days that I get to go shopping or just have a little time to myself!
Today, I’m partnering with a few other lovely mamas to share their on the go essentials and you can see their posts here:
