I can’t say I liked most of the physical changes of pregnancy, but one of them that I did like was what happened to my hair. I have naturally very thick and wavy hair and with the hormones and vitamins of pregnancy, my hair grew like crazy and it was awesome. In the last few weeks of my pregnancy and first few weeks of having a newborn, I definitely neglected myself, including my hair, and that gorgeous length and volume I was loving got a little out of control.
I finally got my first post-baby hair cut and color, and I’m getting my hair back in shape. I’m also anticipating that postpartum hair loss that will start in the coming weeks, so it’s even more important to me to keep my hair well cared for.
I’ve mentioned it several times before, but I’m a huge fan of Aveda hair products, especially their Smooth Infusion line. I use the products regularly, but Aveda recently sent me a few new ones to try so I wanted to share a couple of those, along with a couple of my old favorites in this Beauty Update.
Smooth Infusion Smoothing Masque // My stylist recommended this one to me a while ago and I’ve been doing my best to use it regularly, especially with summer coming! The masque is one that you use in place of conditioner in the shower, leave on for a few minutes and rinse out. After using it, I immediately notice my hair being softer and less frizzy. It also really helps my blow-dry time! I get conditioning treatments at the salon with every color (which is about every 4-5 weeks) and this is a fantastic supplement to that!
Air Control Hair Spray // I usually use hair spray before I curl my hair (just got this curling wand and I LOVE it) and occasionally to finish my style. This one smells really good, as do all Aveda products, and it really helps with static. It’s also not a “wet” hair spray feel, so I feel like that also helps keep frizz down.
Shampure Dry Shampoo // Can you say obsessed? I love this dry shampoo. I’ve never really used a dry shampoo product but after having Dylan, I started using this Shampure Dry Shampoo and I’m hooked. It is a powder that absorbs really easily and smells AMAZING! I also really like this for after workouts to freshen up my hair, so it’s great gym bag addition.
Smooth Infusion Nourishing Styling Creme // I told you I love this line and I really mean it. I actually use this in addition to the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight and I think that the pairing does wonders for cutting down my blow-dry time (making it less than 30 minutes, which is HUGE for me) and it keeps my hair very smooth and soft. I use a heat protectant, then put in the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, followed by a slightly smaller amount of the Nourishing Styling Creme.
Have you tried any of these Aveda products? Or do you have any others that are your favorites?
