When I was pregnant with Jackson, my usually nearly-perfect skin was absolutely horrible. I had a ton of breakouts on my forehead, chin and back and also had some sort of skin aggravation of sort (no idea what it was) on my chin that was dry, flaky and just painful and gross. My chest, back and shoulders were also very oily and broken out. At that time, I wasn’t practicing a good beauty routine, nor was I really into doing product research so I’m not sure anything I was using actually helped.
I went into this pregnancy with an already better established routine and better resources to look at for finding products that would work for the problems I was having. My skin had been up and down this year with the hormonal changes of my pregnancy and miscarriage, so I was already working to treat those when this one happened.
I was already using a few Tata Harper products because I had heard such great reviews on them. Then, fortunately for me, I also met the Global Director of Skincare for Le Metier de Beaute, who helped me learn about some other products that would quickly become favorites. So, here’s what I’m doing right now for my pregnancy skincare routine, along with a few product notes:
Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser (followed by Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser 2x per week)
Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence // I spray this on cotton pads and use all over my face, behind my ears (and neck) and even on my chest. It has cleared up a few bumpy areas and I am obsessed with this product.
Le Metier de Beaute Instant Line Perfecting Serum // This is a great new serum that really shows results, especially on your forehead, around the eyes and smile lines. I’m going to do a whole post on this one but I love it!
Le Metier de Beaute Revive Eye Concentrate
Le Metier de Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution // Very moisturizing and has SPF!
Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge // I use just a tiny dab of this for underneath my foundation or on its own if I’m doing a no makeup day
Cleanse with one of these: Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse, M-61 Perfect Cleanse or TULA Purifying Face Cleanser // I try to do some sort of scrub/exfoliation almost every night, so that is what determines the cleanser I use. If I am not doing any exfoliating, I use the Bobbi Brown because it feels most hydrating and smooth. I use the M-61 when I use this M-61 scrub and the TULA with my Clarisonic. I try to do the Clarisonic 2-3 times a week and the M-61 Scrub 2 times per week. This is more than I’ve ever done but it has seemed to help with keeping my skin clear.
Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence // Same as in the morning.
Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum // I like this one at night because it feels moisturizing and I like that especially after a scrub
Le Metier de Beaute Revive Eye Concentrate
Le Metier de Beaute Ultimate Hydrator // I did a whole post on this one here, but it is a great moisturizing product and makes my skin so soft. I will sometimes use my moisturizer before it, but I’ve found that I don’t always need it, although this may change as winter rolls in.
Le Metier de Beaute Neck & Decollete Cream // I’m only using this 2 times a week right now to limit the amount of retinol I’m exposing my skin to during pregnancy.
Patchology Masks // I love a good mask and these are quick and easy for Sunday night pampering. I like the Hydrate one most lately and will still use their FlashPatch eye gels for a quick boost if my eyes look particularly tired
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask // Another pampering mask that I love! You really will have a nice glow after using it, and your skin feels so soft and smooth.
Le Metier Beaute Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo // These are fantastic for a little spa feeling and after nights where I didn’t get much sleep. I’ll have a pack of these in my hospital bag for sure.
M-61 SuperSoothe E Microdermabrasion Scrub // I mentioned this above and it is a fantastic scrub to just have on hand. It really exfoliates well and I’ve even used it on my chest to clear up some bumps.
I’ve been very pleased with the way my skin has looked so far in this pregnancy. I have had the unavoidable breakout here and there but they are very infrequent and totally manageable.
One thing I didn’t address in this post was body products. I am using this Clarins Stretch Mark Minimizer and their Toning Oil every day, and I like both of them a lot. I will say that my shoulders and back are still pretty bad, but I’ve just tried to shower right after workouts and keep my skin moisturized (I tried this last week and love/need/want it) as best as I can to keep those breakouts minimal. However, it is winter and my shoulders and back are always covered so I’ve at least been able to ignore that one bad thing and I know it will go away after the baby comes.
