When we were living in Houston, I enjoyed sharing some of our local favorites here on the blog and today I’m very excited to feature one of my favorite places near our new home. We learned about Prost Wine Bar in Frankenmuth, Michigan around the holidays and, after one visit, knew we had found a go-to spot!
On our first visit we met Zak and Korina, the owners who brought this great spot to our area. Through their travels and love of European style and culture, they were inspired to open Prost as a place for people to enjoy and experience some of the things they had come to love. This means a welcoming and relaxing space, good food and, of course, great wine!
The menu at Prost has beer, craft cocktails and over 70 wines, with six of those wines, including two from Michigan, Good Harbor and L. Mawby’s Sex bubbly (which, let’s face it is kind of fun to order) on tap. Before we started going there, I’d never heard about wine on tap, but it’s very cool and the wine is great. The wine is actually kept fresh in kegs underneath the bar and poured to order. Each type of wine comes out of the tap at the appropriate temperature for the type of wine and it is all aerated and perfect. I love this especially for reds, which I like to be light and slightly chilled. Not to mention, pricing is especially great on tap wines with the most expensive being $7 a glass!
Another thing we love at Prost are the charcuterie boards. My favorite is the Spanish board, because anything with chorizo is a win for me, but there’s also an Italian board and German board, which is completely perfect for Frankenmuth’s heritage. You can get the perfect wine pairings with any board and also try a sandwich or appetizer (the smoked salmon duo is a favorite of ours).
We always enjoy how open, friendly and relaxing Prost is, the servers are really knowledgeable and it’s a great spot for date night or happy hour with friends. I also can’t wait till spring when their patio opens! There are a few happenings coming up that you don’t want to miss! Tonight (Thursday) happy hour is from 4-8 and there are $15 charcuterie boards and 1/2 off tap wines – the perfect time to try them! Also Prost is kicking off a Wine School series this weekend with some sparkling wines and you can sign up here.
