Thanks to everyone who joined us yesterday at week 2 of Athleta’s Sweat Sessions! That Interval class from The Barre Code was a seriously great (and sweaty) way to start the week. It was my first time taking the Interval class and it was definitely challenging and I’m already feeling the work. The class alternates bursts of cardio and active recovery to pump up your heart rate with strength training sessions focusing on abs and seat work. My favorite thing about The Barre Code is the inspiration and motivation behind the workout and I left the class and the event feeling strong, positive and wanting to do it again (after a little bit of rest, of course).
I talked about a few of my current favorite styles at Athleta, specifically for an Interval-type workout. Three of my favorite pieces are:
- Skinny Up Pants // I love this style! It’s got a higher rise so you don’t have to keep pulling them up during your workout, and I like that they are long (at least on me) so I can tuck them under my heels in my to and from boots or in my sticky socks at barre classes. Also, the new styles have some cool print details on them to visually add a little length to your leg, and just add a pop of color to your basic pants.
- Fuse Jacket // This jacket is the perfect to and from jacket for your workouts. I like the weight on it because you can wear it over a tee (short or long sleeved) or tank and stay warm as you’re off on post-workout errands or just running around on your usual day, or you can wear under your winter parka if you need more insulation. It comes in great colors and I also plan on wearing this one over my base layer for apres ski cocktails in Park City.
- Glory Sports Bra // No matter the workout, but especially for higher impact, I like to wear a high support bra to keep the ladies in check. This one is adjustable both on the straps and in the back to get you a perfect fit. It’s comfortable, lined and has underwire to help keep you lifted and confident. I’m a fan.
Amanda Gyuran talked about taking time this week to slow down when you’re eating and actually enjoy your meals. Sometimes it’s hard to do but she’s just challenging you to take one meal a day just a bit slower and see how you feel. Check out her blog post here for all the details of this week’s challenge and why it’s good for you! In case you missed her green smoothie recipe last week, you can find it here.
Week three is next Sunday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Athleta store at the Somerset collection. We’ll be doing a Brawl workout which combines kickboxing and strengthening exercises. Come join us and don’t forget to bring a friend and get a punch card to enter to win lots of great prizes, including a $250 Athleta giveaway. If you have any questions, leave them for me in comments and I’m happy to get back to you. Hope to see you there!
