Aveda Hair Products: As you may have seen on Instagram, I was testing out a new hair product combo a couple of weeks ago. I now go to an Aveda salon and I love the products that my stylist uses, and I was out of just about everything I already had, so I thought I’d give them a try at home. To go with the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight that I already have (and highly recommend), I picked up Damage Remedy for heat protection and repair and Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss for shine and conditioning. On wet hair, I use the Damage Remedy first and then mix together two pumps of the Brilliant with a little more than a quarter size amount of Smooth Infusion. I also use the Brilliant when my is dry and styled. The combination makes my hair very frizz-free and doesn’t weigh it down at all. I’m a big fan of all of these products!
Aveda Lipstick: A little more Aveda for you. There was a little beauty event at my salon to show the new Aveda Romantic Grandeur makeup collection. I couldn’t leave without picking up the Nourish-Mint lip color in Gogi Berry, with the coordinating lip liner in Fire Maple, which I don’t use to “line,” but rather use all over my lips to set the color for all day. It’s a really lovely color with a nice bit of pop! I actually notice people taking a minute to look at the red lips when I wear these products and I’ve gotten several compliments.
Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer + Secret Brightening Powder: Alright ladies, if you want some serious under-eye coverage, this is THE concealer combo that you have to try. On the concealer, I was surprised at how thick it is and was almost instantly turned off by that but you really need so little of it that, once I learned how to apply, it didn’t bother me as much. I put the tiniest bit on my ring fingers and pat the concealer under my eyes. Then I follow with the brightening powder to lighten up and set. The powder is also great for a little contouring. I put it right above my cheekbones and then the bridge of my nose and blend after applying my bronzer and blush.
MALIN + GOETZ products: I love the sort of scientific-sophistication of the MALIN + GOETZ branding and was really excited to have the chance to try a few of their products this month. My very favorite is the Vitamin b5 Body Moisturizer. It is thick and really luxurious feeling, and it absorbs really quickly. I’ve been using it at night along with using their Peppermint Body Scrub twice a week. The scrub has that minty chill sensation that you’d expect and it really works nicely – it’ll be great for cleaning up winter dry skin! Finally, the Vitamin b5 Hand Treatment is now in my everyday bag and it’s just like the body moisturizer in its absorption, thickness and moisturizing power – it’s awesome.
NARS ‘The Multiple’ Stick + NARS Blush: These are products that I’ve been having fun playing with and trying to figure out the best ways to use. I have the Matte Multiple Stick in Anguilla (pretty pink ), Altai (light bronzing) and Vientiane (darker bronzing). You can use the stick directly on your cheeks for a little stronger finish or you can dampen your fingers and the put some product on them to pat on your cheeks for a sheer finish. If you want a nice, rich pop of blush color, this 413BLKR blush is totally for you! It’s very blendable and you can make it work for day and night – the color is really great.
