As I’ve mentioned before, we are doing our best to keep cooking at home good-tasting, interesting and fun. Recently, we’ve also started to try and make it more of a family affair. Jackson has become really interested in what’s going on in the kitchen and insists on sitting on the counter and “helping” fix his breakfast every morning before he heads off to school. He’ll also run into the kitchen when I’m making dinner and say “I want to see, I want to see!” So we take out the step stool and let him climb up to check out what’s going on.
Since he wants to help, we’ve been trying to make one night a week where we can all get our hands, and the kitchen, dirty and make dinner together. The best one so far has been last week’s pizza party night, where our “hands on” dinner was followed by a movie and some cookies. Pepperoni and lots of cheese are Jackson’s toppings of choice, I pick tomato, mozzarella, basil and prosciutto and Clint usually combines all of the available options. I also love pizza night because it is easy to set up and even easier to clean up so we can get right to our movie and cookies.
We’re still working on some small details, so I’ll do a big reveal post another time, but you can see a lot more of our finished kitchen in these photos. The newest addition is our Delta Faucet Touch 2.0 faucet! It took a little getting used to and then a lot of playing with it (“Hey look it turns on! Now I turned it off!” every time we walked by and tapped it.), but it makes clean up on nights like this especially easy. One of us can carry a messy handed Jackson over to the sink and he can turn it on and off himself. He loves washing his hands (good problem to have!), but can’t reach the handle, so this makes it easy and fun for him – and helps keep the mess pretty well contained!
“Why do people treat mess like it’s a bad thing? It’s actually the evidence of a life well lived. When you’re out there making, creating, doing and playing, embrace your #HappiMess and let Delta kitchen and bath innovations help clean up so you can do it all again tomorrow.”
