Gray is a major trend in clothing for fall, but I also really love it in home decor. If you’ve seen my Instagram photos of our house, you’ll see that our new house is done primarily in shades of gray. When we bought the house it was decorated in a melange of colors from stripes to big florals to a yellow/gold sponge painted hallway upstairs, so my immediate thought was that it needed some serious toning down, calm and just general soothing.
We used a range of Benjamin Moore grays in our house with everything from Alaskan Husky (very light and pale gray), everyone’s favorite Revere Pewter and a very dark Charcoal Slate. Everything is accented with China White, a slightly less than stark white color. The house does have a sense of calm to it now and feels much more refined.
Until recently, I thought combining gray and gold or brass was a mistake and that using silver or shiny chrome was the only way to go. Well, I was wrong about that one and this was the coffee table that changed my mind – coming soon to our living room! The more I look around, the more I like the contrast between brass and gray and the refined palette it creates. I’m considering changing out the knobs on our living room built-ins and just adding little accents here and there to bring add more of the combo to our house.
