I meant to do one of these in June, but to be honest, the month went by so quickly that I completely forgot!
I’ve been keeping my beauty routine pretty simple this summer. My daily makeup has been a light foundation or tinted moisturizer, cream blush, concealer and mascara. When you see photos of me, you’ll notice that I’m pretty pale and that’s because my main priority right now is daily sun protection. I’ve been trying to be consistent with the Jergens Natural Glow lotion that I mentioned in my last beauty update to try and maintain a light color, but I’m thinking of stepping that up and trying a true self tanner. Here’s what’s new in my beauty routine:
I love these Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes for taking off waterproof mascara and makeup at night. I use them before washing my face and using my Clarisonic. On Sunday nights I add one extra step to my routine and that is a mask and I’ve really liked this one from Cle de Peau. When I use it, I can immediately see my skin being brighter and feeling more moisturized and soft. It’s really great and you can get one for $25 if you want to try it and then a set of 6 for $150. And if you have any extra lotion or essence left, it’s great to put on your hands for a little mini mani.
I go to an Aveda salon and my stylist introduced me to Aveda’s latest product, Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, a little bit before the 4th of July. I would describe my hair as naturally unruly, wavy and super thick, and I will try just about anything that says “straightening” on it. So far, I’ve really liked using this one. It claims to fight humidity and naturally relax your waves and curls so that after 5 applications, your hair will stay straight for 3 weeks. I haven’t quite done 5 consecutive applications, so I don’t know if that last part is true but I will say that my blow dries have been pretty easy and I’d say it works well to fight humidity and keep your hair smooth.
BareSkin Foundation from bareMinerals is pretty new, and you’ve probably seen it out on a lot of blogs recently. I got to try it as part of a collaboration and I really like it. The thing I like best is probably the ease of application. The brush that comes with the product is nice and you just buff the foundation onto your skin until you get the coverage you like. I’d consider this one my “everyday” foundation and I will probably stick with my Laura Mercier for when I want my makeup to be a little more polished and done up. Other than that, I’ve really been loving the YSL Creme de Blush this summer. It is so smooth and stays on really well.
