We finally hosted our first cookout at our new house over the weekend as a kickoff to our very long 4th of July weekend (it sort of starts today). We recently finished the renovation of our entire yard, so this is also a little peek at what we did to the patio – I’ll do a more thorough before and after post later, because you really need to see what it used to look like to appreciate how far it has come. Anyway, as I think I mentioned, we just picked up our new grill a couple of weeks ago, so it was nice to be able to show off our Clint’s grilling skills for our family.
- Kabobs: Our own “recipes” of chicken marinated in Italian dressing and sirloin seasoned with smoked chipotle Tabasco, salt, pepper and a dash of Tony Chachere’s Cajun seasoning
- Sangria: Recipe via Rachael Ray
- Spicy Snickerdoodles: Recipe via The Homesick Texan’s Family Table (let’s just call these the only snickerdoodles that I will ever make forever – they’re so good!)
- Chipotle Bacon Scalloped Potatoes: Recipe via The Homesick Texan
I prepped everything ahead of time to avoid mess and so that I could actually get dressed and not worry about making a mess of myself while everyone was at our house. I know it’s summer but we keep our air conditioning somewhere near freakishly cold (hi Clint!) so I almost always wear some sort of wrap or sweater when I’m at home.
On me: Old Navy Romper (strapless version here, similar here and you know I still love this one) // Elaine Turner Wedges (similar) – both on sale! // Cardigan (you didn’t see it, but it’s super old and has no tag, and this one is almost identical) // C.Wonder earrings c/o // YSL Rebel Nudes Lip Stain #104 Fuchsia Tomboy
